Lauren Quist Art
Lauren Quist
Inspired by the world around me, I create mixed media paintings primarily using acrylic paint and embroidery floss. By using the different textures of paint and embroidery, the goal of my art is to manipulate how light interacts with my art and how mixing the contrasting hard and soft textures creates harmony. Influenced by illustrative line-based art and impressionism, I combine these styles to bring forth the subject of my work while using luscious colors, hard lines, and expressive brushstrokes. Using images that I have photographed and my imagination, I work to capture moments in time with my art.
I have been painting and embroidering my mixed media paintings since 2008 when I created my first for my senior exhibition. Although I studied art for my undergraduate degree, I am a self-taught painter and embroiderer. I have exhibited my art throughout Seattle and its surrounding areas. For the Shoreline Arts Festival, I will be showcasing my newest collection of floral paintings along with my collection of original acrylic and ink mixed media paintings. I will be offering prints and cards as well.
